Classical - Traditional

Folk and Classical Music from Bartók, Kodály, Brahms, Liszt, Mozart

The Concept

The influence of the rural, genuine traditional music of Hungary to the great composers of Hungary of the 20th century is obvious. After playing the traditional Hungarian folk music for almost 4 decades, the musicians of Muzsikás easily discover this influence even in the most abstract works of Béla Bartók, Zoltán Kodály, and also in some works of Liszt, Dohnányi, Ligeti, Lajtha or even Kurtág. The basic concept of these programs is to combine some work of these composers with the traditional folk music to create a new musical experience. With renowned classical musicians during these concerts the two genres of music, the classical and the traditional are performed one after the other, or sometimes even together aiming that the two kind of music can strenghten each other.

Later Muzsikas broughtened their classical-traditional projects involving some compositions of Brahms, Mozart or Antonín Dvořák
